Breaking: Welsh Star Rejects Move Home In Favour Of New Contract With Current Club

26.09.15 - England v Wales, Rugby World Cup 2015 - Dan Biggar of Wales and Rhys Priestland of Wales celebrate victory over England at the end of the match

Rhys Priestland has rejected a move back to Wales with the Scarlets in favour of a new contract with Bath.

The versatile back has been linked with a move back home to the Welsh region in recent months as the WRU look to bring a host of internationals back home. The deal will likely lead mean his Welsh career is over with so many players ahead of him in the wildcard selections.

Capped 48 times by Wales at international level, Priestland has prolonged his stay in the West Country after joining on an initial two-year deal from the Scarlets in the summer of 2015. The versatile back has appeared for Bath 27 times and scored 101 points to date.

Liam Williams is also expected to confirm a move to England in the coming days with Saracens. The fullback has been in talks with the European Champions for several weeks now, with an announcement expected shortly.

The likes of George North and Jamie Roberts are already plying their trade abroad as things stand, making Leigh Halfpenny’s return to Wale a must given the fact that Gatland can only pick four wildcards.
