Billionaire PSG Owners Looking To Buy French Club

Paris Saint-Germain owners the Qatar Investment Fund could be set to buy French Pro D2 side Narbonne.

The news was reported by Gavin Mortimer in Rugby World and could see the Narbonne become the latest French powerhouse club.

Narbonne currently find themselves in 7th position and outside of the playoff positions in the French second tier.

Narbonne almost sank to the third tier of French rugby in 2011 and had it not been for an Australian consortium led by former Leinster flanker, Rocky Elsom may have become a footnote in French rugby.

However, Elsom and the Australian owners do not want to sell the club.

In a statement made on the club’s website, Elsom said,

Even if there had been an offer, I seriously doubt that it would be in the best interests for Narbonne or RCNM, therefore the matter’s closed and we should all move on.

Although the Qatari Investment Fund have given Elsom until December 31 to reach a deal, they are prepared to take their interest elsewhere.
