Austin Healey’s Lions Test XV Has A Lot Of People Scratching Their Heads

This is almost as bad as the time Will Greenwood put Adam Byrne in his Lions XV.

Former Lions and England scrumhalf Austin Healey has had a go at picking his XV for the first Test against the All Blacks and it has a lot of people scratching their heads. The outspoken pundit has gone as far as including someone in the starting line-up, that isn’t even in the squad.

We told you last night that Healey reckons Mike Brown should be called up to the squad, but not only that, he reckons he should be thrown straight into the Test line-up. Healey reckons Brown will be needed in order to implement Gatland’s game plan.

He’s also gone for Ulster lock Iain Henderson at six, over the likes of Peter O’Mahony and CJ Stander. While Henderson has done a job here on a number of occasions for Ulster, it’s a bit of a stretch to expect him to do it at Lions Test level, especially when you have guys experience in that position at Test level like O’Mahony and Stander.

Austin Healy’s TEST XV: 15. Mike Brown (England), 14. George North (Wales), 13. Robbie Henshaw (Ireland), 12. Ben Te’o (England), 11. Elliot Daly (England), 10. Owen Farrell (England), 9. Conor Murray (Ireland), 1. Mako Vunipola (England), 2. Jamie George (England), 3. Tadhg Furlong (Ireland), 4. George Kruis (England), 5. Maro Itoje (England), 6. Iain Henderson (Ireland), 7. Justin Tipuric (Wales), 8. Taulupe Faletau (Wales).
