Anthony Foley Set To Stay On As Munster Coach, But There’s A Catch

Anthony Foley is set to stay on a Munster Rugby head coach next season but he won’t be alone.

Munster are set to launch a search for a director of rugby to come on board alongside Anthony Foley next season. The process to find a suitable candidate to add experience to the Munster backroom staff will formally begin in the coming weeks according to sources within The42

The province’s Professional Game Board now appears to have decided that having an experienced figure in a similar position alongside Foley on a permanent basis would be a positive move.

The province are set to follow in the footsteps of Ulster in appointing a director of rugby although it is unknown if they will have a hands-on approach similar to that of Les Kiss at Ulster and those in that position in the Aviva Premiership.

It remains to be seen which avenue Munster go down with their search for a director of rugby ahead of next season, though it does appear that extensive top-level experience will be the key criteria.

Foley has an excellent reputation on the training ground but lacks when it comes to dealing with the media, succession planning, transfers and contracting. These duties would be handed over to the director. Is this the right move Munster fans?
