All Blacks Superstar Set To Return Against Ireland
All Blacks superstar Aaron Smith is in line for a return against Ireland in Chicago.
The scrumhalf was sent home from the All Blacks Rugby Championship squad as a result of a sex scandal in a disabled toilet at an airport in Christchurch. The 27-year-old was given a suspension by the squad’s leadership group and left the tour before a Test against South Africa in Durban to tend to his private life while TJ Perenara stepped up and took over for him in the nine slot.
Smith is widely regarded as the best in the world in his position and his return will come as a blow to Ireland. New Zealand assistant coach Ian Foster has revealed that Smith is ready to return to his starting position and noted he is mentally ready.
Speaking to the42, Foster said:
“Yep. He’s shaped up really well,”
“He’s come in to the camp and he’s focusing on doing his job. As far as we’re concerned, he’s back to normal.”
Ireland take on New Zealand this Saturday at Soldier Field in Chicago in front of what is expected to be a sold-out affair.
