Alan Quinlan Tells Brilliant Story That Sums Up Donnacha Ryan’s Incredible Passion For Munster

Alan Quinlan says the IRFU have made a big mistake in leaving Donnacha Ryan go.

The experience second-row played his final game at Thomond Park on Saturday and will move to French Racing 92 in the summer after the IRFU decided to not offer him a central contract.

Quinlan says they have made a huge mistake and believes that Ryan could definitely have done a job for Ireland at the 2019 Rugby World Cup. Writing in the Irish Independent, Quinlan also recalls an incredible Donnacha Ryan moment that shows his passion for the province.

Munster were playing Northampton in the Heineken Cup at Thomond Park and looking to secure a home quarter final, with 62 minutes on the clock.

If there is one moment that sums up Donnacha’s passion for Munster, it was during the 2010 Heineken Cup pool game against Northampton.
We were 9-6 up with 20 minutes left when Paulie was sent to the bin and Northampton had a penalty. They chose to take a scrum.
He told us there was no fucking way they were going to drive us back. This was from a man who normally wasn’t the most vocal, it had a huge impact.
We pushed them off and won the penalty.

Munster won that game 12-9. Here’s a clip of incident below thanks to Balls.ie
